The short answer: a Friday-to-Sunday weekend at Chalet de la Poirie costs 392.80 € for 4 people and 645.60 € for 8 in the low season, with the cleaning fee and tourist tax included. In the mid season, budget 442.80 € to 695.60 €. During school holidays and bank-holiday weekends the minimum stay rises to three nights, from 679.20 € to 1,058.40 €.

Every figure below comes from the rate grid published on our practical information page, with nothing added at checkout. The chalet is always let whole, both floors together, with the heated terrace, hot tub, sauna, steam shower and whirlpool bath, for up to 10 people. Our examples deliberately stop at 8 guests, because the grid does not state the supplement for a 9th and 10th person. If you are 9 or 10, ask for a quote through the booking form and we will reply within 24 hours.

The totals

Weekend prices at a glance

The table adds up everything you actually pay: the nights, the per-person supplement above 4 guests, the cleaning fee and the tourist tax. Only two amounts are left out: 25 € per stay if you bring a pet, and the 300 € deposit, which is refunded after your stay.

Total price of a weekend by season and group size
Season 4 people 6 people 8 people
Low seasonFriday and Saturday, 2 nights392.80 €98.20 € pp519.20 €86.53 € pp645.60 €80.70 € pp
Mid seasonFriday and Saturday, 2 nights442.80 €110.70 € pp569.20 €94.87 € pp695.60 €86.95 € pp
Holidays and long weekendsFriday, Saturday and Sunday, 3-night minimum679.20 €169.80 € pp868.80 €144.80 € pp1,058.40 €132.30 € pp

The pattern is clear: the bigger the group, the lower the price per head. The first 4 guests share one base rate, and each extra guest costs just 30 € a night. Eight people in the low season pay 40.35 € each per night, with the hot tub, sauna and household linen included.

The flip side is that the chalet is not a budget option for a couple: 2, 3 or 4 guests pay the same nightly rate. A low-season weekend for two comes to 386.40 €, or 193.20 € each. That makes sense for a special occasion, much less for a cheap last-minute getaway.

The breakdown

How the total is worked out, line by line

To check a quote, or compare two listings, nothing beats doing the sum yourself. Take 8 people on a Friday and Saturday in November, outside school holidays:

  • Nights: 2 × 140 € (low-season weekend rate) = 280 €
  • Additional guests: 5th to 8th, so 4 × 30 € × 2 nights = 240 €
  • Cleaning fee: 100 €, once per stay
  • Tourist tax: 1.60 € × 8 people × 2 nights = 25.60 €
  • Total: 280 + 240 + 100 + 25.60 = 645.60 €, or 80.70 € per person

Two rules in the grid make a big difference. First, the weekend rate applies to Friday and Saturday nights; Sunday night is charged at the weekday rate. Second, the cleaning fee is fixed, so it weighs more on two nights than on three. Adding Sunday night to our example costs 110 € for the night, 120 € in supplements (4 × 30 €) and 12.80 € in tax, 242.80 € more in all: the stay comes to 888.40 €, or 111.05 € per person for three nights instead of two.

The tourist tax is calculated here for every guest, as the grid states. The exact amount, like the rest of the terms, is confirmed in our reply to your request.

The seasons

Low, mid or peak season: which weekend for which budget

The grid has three periods, plus New Year on its own. Prices are for the whole chalet, per night.

  • Low season (January, March, November, excluding the Venetian carnival and school holidays): 140 € for a Friday or Saturday night, 110 € on weekdays, 2-night minimum. The best-value time for a weekend.
  • Mid season (February, April, May excluding long weekends, 1 to 17 June, 13 to 30 September, October, 1 to 16 December): 165 € for a weekend night, 130 € on weekdays, 2-night minimum.
  • Holidays and long weekends (Easter, 1 and 8 May, Whitsun, 18 to 30 June, July, August, 1 to 12 September, Christmas holidays): 200 € for a weekend night, 160 € on weekdays, 3-night minimum.
  • New Year (25 to 26 December and 30 December to 1 January): a single rate of 350 € a night, 3-night minimum.

The key point for a weekend: during holidays and long weekends, two nights are not enough. You need to arrive on Thursday or leave on Monday. With Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the base is 560 € for the chalet (200 + 200 + 160), the same as Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

If your dates fall in school holidays that are not spelled out in the grid, mention it in your request: the rate that applies is confirmed in our reply, before you commit to anything.

The low season is far from dead time at the chalet. In winter, snow permitting, the ski areas of Gérardmer and La Bresse-Hohneck are less than 30 km away; in November or March, the heated 80 m² terrace and the hot tub become the heart of the stay, whatever the weather.

What's included

What the price covers, and what it doesn't

A weekend rate covers the entire house: two floors, 115 m² of living space, an 80 m² terrace and 10 beds, with no space shared with other guests. Nothing in the wellness area is charged by use, and there are no time slots to book.

  • The hot tub (heated whirlpool spa) and sauna on the terrace, under the pergola and patio heaters, for your group only
  • The steam shower and whirlpool bath in the upstairs bathroom
  • Household linen for every bed, shower gel, shampoo and eco-labelled cleaning products
  • Wi-Fi, a baby cot and a high chair
  • Private, secure parking for 5 cars, handy when the group arrives in several vehicles
  • Two fitted kitchens, two bathrooms, the barbecue and the pergola with its TV

On top of the nightly rate: the tourist tax and cleaning fee, already included in our totals, 25 € per stay if you bring a pet, and the 300 € deposit, refunded after your stay. Meals are up to you: supermarkets are 2 km away, and Le Karélian restaurant is 900 metres from the chalet. Rooms and beds are described on the chalet page, and the wellness area on the spa and wellness page.

Comparing

Comparing two listings: 7 questions to ask first

From one listing to the next, the price shown for a "Vosges chalet weekend with a hot tub" rarely covers the same things. Before you compare, bring each offer back to the same total with these questions:

  • Is the price for the whole property, or per person? Here, the whole chalet, with 2, 3 or 4 guests at the same rate.
  • Is cleaning included? Here, a 100 € fee per stay on top of the nights.
  • Is the tourist tax included? Here, 1.60 € per person per night, on top.
  • Is the hot tub private, and charged separately? Here, private and included, like the sauna, steam shower and whirlpool bath.
  • Is household linen provided? Here, yes, for every bed.
  • What is the minimum stay for your dates? Here, 2 nights, or 3 during holidays, long weekends and New Year.
  • What is the real capacity? Here, 10 people, never more.

A low headline price that leaves out cleaning, linen or a hot-tub supplement can end up costing more than an all-in rate. The simplest approach is to ask for a total for your dates and your exact number of guests.

A typical weekend

From Friday 5 pm to Sunday 11 am

A weekend is just two nights, so a little planning goes a long way. Check-in is from 5 pm and self-guided: entry details are sent to you before your stay, once the booking is confirmed. The chalet is 3 km from Remiremont station, and the 5-space car park means no hassle when the group comes in several cars.

Friday evening usually means a quick shop on the way, dinner cooked in one of the two kitchens or on the barbecue, then the hot tub on the heated terrace. Saturday can be split between the voie verte cycle trail, 30 metres from the chalet, the Remiremont lake 2 km away, Lake Gérardmer about 25 km away or, in winter, the slopes of Gérardmer and La Bresse-Hohneck, under 30 km away. Back in the late afternoon for the sauna, steam shower or whirlpool bath. On Sunday, check-out is by 11 am.

A useful reminder for groups of friends: the chalet is a family house, not a venue for loud parties, and the neighbours deserve respect, especially in the evening. For activity ideas by season, read our year-round guide to the Vosges.

Booking

Booking your weekend: dates, guests, cancellation

Before you send a request, check the calendar on the booking page: dates already taken are shown in red. The form asks for your arrival and departure dates and a guest range (1 to 4, 5 to 8 or 9 to 10). We reply within 24 hours, and a request commits you to nothing.

The cancellation terms are simple: free up to 14 days before arrival, a 50% refund between 14 and 5 days, no refund less than 5 days before. For a group of 8, it pays to make sure everyone is coming before the 14-day mark.

Are you 9 or 10? The chalet sleeps up to 10, no more: just ask for a quote through the form, choosing the 9 to 10 range. Our article on renting a Vosges chalet for 10 people explains how the beds are laid out, and other practical questions are answered in our FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

What we're asked most often

How much does a weekend in a Vosges chalet with a hot tub cost?

At Chalet de la Poirie, two nights from Friday to Sunday cost from 392.80 € (4 people, low season) to 695.60 € (8 people, mid season), including the cleaning fee and tourist tax. During holidays and long weekends the minimum is three nights: from 679.20 € to 1,058.40 € depending on group size.

Can we book the chalet for a single night?

No. The minimum stay is 2 nights in the low and mid seasons, and 3 nights during holidays, long weekends and New Year. Minimum stays by period are listed on the practical information page.

Are the hot tub and sauna extra?

No. The hot tub, sauna, steam shower and whirlpool bath are part of the chalet and included in the nightly rate. They are reserved for your group alone, with no time slots to book.

What does it cost for 9 or 10 people?

The published grid sets the supplement for the 5th to the 8th guest (30 € a night), not for a 9th and 10th. For 9 or 10 people, the chalet's maximum capacity, ask for a quote through the booking form: we reply within 24 hours.

Is the chalet cheaper during the week?

Yes. Sunday to Thursday nights cost 110 €, 130 € or 160 € depending on the season, against 140 €, 165 € or 200 € for Friday and Saturday nights. A stay that includes a Sunday night therefore works out cheaper per night than a pure weekend.

Can we bring our dog for a weekend?

Yes, pets are welcome. Just let us know when you book; a flat 25 € per stay is added to the total, whatever the length of the stay.

Our advice

Doing the maths for a group weekend

The more of you there are, the more reasonable the weekend becomes per person: 8 people in the low season pay 80.70 € each, hot tub and sauna included. Check the full rates on our practical information page, browse our FAQ and discover the area around the chalet.
